Gareth is an investment manager. After training at Baillie Gifford he worked at Adam and Company (where he was Chief Investment Officer) and Brooks Macdonald, and has dealt with major institutional investors, private clients, trusts and charities.
Geraldine is a chartered accountant and a member of the Ethics Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Geraldine is currently a non-executive Director of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and a Governor of Kilgraston School. She was formerly the Director of The Prince’s Trust in Scotland.
Iain is a chartered accountant specialising in corporate finance. He advises companies on transactions, succession strategies, dispute resolution and forensic accounting. Formerly a partner in both KPMG and Johnston Carmichael, Iain also runs a general accountancy practice in the West Coast of Scotland.
Christine Johnson has been a Trustee since September 2020. She currently serves on a number of other Boards including Invesco Enhance Income trust and CCLA, a specialist responsible investing asset manager, as a non-executive Director. Formerly she held a number of senior investment roles at RSA, Investec, HSBC and most recently as Head of Fixed Income at Old Mutual Global Investors. She holds a first class Honours degree in Economics from Manchester.
Gordon is qualified as a lawyer in England. He is General Counsel at specialist asset manager CQS (UK) LLP, having previously held a similar role at Aberdeen Standard Investments, the asset management business of Standard Life Aberdeen PLC. Gordon has specialised in corporate law, with a particular focus on the asset management sector and the investment industry generally.
David is a professional independent trustee who works for Law Debenture. Prior to that, he spent 25 years in the City mainly as a chief investment officer. He is a board member of Mid Wynd International Investment Trust PLC, as well as a non-executive director of Baillie Gifford Japan Trust PLC.
Ian is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland. Prior to his appointment as Trustee in 2015, Ian was Manager of The Golden Charter Trust. He was formerly Managing Director of Golden Charter Limited from 2003 until 2007. Ian is also a former Director of the Funeral Planning Authority and of the Funeral Planning Council.
Paul is Managing Director of Paul Stevenson Funeral Directors Ltd. and is well established in the funeral profession, having over 30 years’ experience. Paul is a member of the SAIFCharter Executive and is the Chair of the Product Development & Innovation group as well as a member of the Monitoring & Compliance committee. Paul is the past President of Scottish SAIF.
Clare is a chartered governance professional specialising in risk management and internal control. Previously, she was the Auditor General at the World Bank and more recently a Director at the International Monetary Fund. She is currently a non executive director of Fidelity Asia Values PLC and a member of the Audit and Risk Commission of the International Red Cross.
Leo is a chartered accountant and is responsible for the management of the Trust and reporting to the Board of Trustees. Before joining the Trust, he worked in the finance department of Golden Charter Limited. A graduate of Glasgow University, Leo qualified as a CA with KPMG and held senior finance roles at Scottish & Newcastle plc, City Site Estates plc and Scotia Travel.
Alastair is a graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University with a degree in Risk Management. Alastair is involved in the day to day operations of the Trust with specific responsibility for digital communications and maintaining risk frameworks and controls.
Emma is a chartered certified accountant and graduate of Glasgow University. Prior to working for the Trust, she worked in the Finance department of Golden Charter Limited. Emma has also worked in assurance at PwC LLP and in the Finance Risk department of Scottish Equitable plc.
