  • Gareth is an investment manager. After training at Baillie Gifford he worked at Adam and Company (where he was Chief Investment Officer) and Brooks Macdonald, and has dealt with major institutional investors, private clients, trusts and charities.

  • Gordon Brough

  • Vice Chair
  • Gordon is qualified as a lawyer in England. He was General Counsel at specialist asset manager CQS (UK) LLP and previously held a similar role at Aberdeen Standard Investments, the asset management business of Standard Life Aberdeen PLC. Gordon has specialised in corporate law, with a particular focus on the asset management sector and the investment industry generally.

  • David Adam

  • Trustee
  • David Adam was the CIO of the BAE Systems Pension Fund for over a decade and more recently the Acting CIO of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation. Previously, he was the Head of UK equities at BAE Systems and the Director of UK Fund Management at Abbey National Asset Managers. Currently he is an Investment Advisor to the Miners’ Pension Scheme and a large Middle Eastern corporate office.

  • Clare Brady

  • Trustee & Chair of Nominations and Remuneration Committee
  • Clare is a chartered governance professional specialising in risk management and internal control. She is currently a non-executive director of Credit Suisse AG, and Chair of Fidelity Asian Values PLC. Clare is also a member of the Audit and Risk Commission of the International Red Cross. Previously, she was the Auditor General at the World Bank and a Director at the IMF.

  • Christine Johnson

  • Trustee & Chair of Investment Strategy Group
  • Christine holds a first class Honours degree in Economics from Manchester. She currently serves on a number of other Boards including Invesco Enhance Income trust and CCLA, a specialist responsible investing asset manager, as a non-executive Director. Formerly she held a number of senior investment roles at RSA, Investec, HSBC and most recently as Head of Fixed Income at Old Mutual Global Investors.

  • David is a professional independent trustee who sits on the board of Mid Wynd International Investment Trust PLC and Baillie Gifford Japan Trust PLC. David is also the Chair of The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Pension Scheme. Prior to that, he spent 25 years in the City mainly as a chief investment officer.

  • Myriam Madden

  • Trustee & Chair of Audit and Risk Committee
  • Myriam is a non-executive director and chair of audit committees at OFGEM, Invesco Asia Trust and Home Group. A chartered management accountant with an international and multi-sectoral executive career, highlights include roles as a board member of the International Ethical Standards Board for Accountants, the International Federation of Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Myriam was global President of CIMA in 2014/15.

  • Paul Stevenson

  • Paul is Managing Director of Paul Stevenson Funeral Directors Ltd. and is well established in the funeral profession, having over 30 years’ experience. Paul is a member of the SAIFCharter Executive and is the Chair of the Product Development & Innovation group as well as a member of the Monitoring & Compliance committee. Paul is the past President of Scottish SAIF.

  • Barry Widdows

  • Barry is a qualified actuary and a CFA charterholder. He recently sat on the Executive Investment Committee at Prudential M&G and was the lead fund manager for the with-profits fund. His former roles included global portfolio management responsibility for Blackrock’s flagship hedge fund and leadership of the quant and risk analysis desk at Insight Investment.

  • Jennifer Reid

  • Executive Director
  • Jennifer qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC and is a graduate of Strathclyde University where she attained a first class Honours degree in Accounting and Management Science. Jennifer is an experienced risk and change management professional and has held senior roles in risk management, internal audit and organisational change at Golden Charter Limited, C&C Group plc and Circularity Scotland Ltd.

  • Leo Gaughan

  • Director
  • Leo stepped down from his position as Executive Director on 1 April 2024 ahead of his planned retirement from the Trust on 30 September 2024. Leo will continue in the role of Director to ensure a smooth transition to his successor, Jennifer Reid. Leo qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG and held senior finance roles at Scottish & Newcastle plc and City Site Estates plc.

  • Alastair Muir

  • Operations Manager
  • Alastair is a graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University with a degree in Risk Management. Alastair is involved in the day to day operations of the Trust with specific responsibility for digital communications and maintaining risk frameworks and controls.

  • Emma Gillan

  • Finance Manager
  • Emma is a chartered certified accountant and graduate of Glasgow University. Prior to working for the Trust, she worked in the Finance department of Golden Charter Limited. Emma has also worked in assurance at PwC LLP and in the Finance Risk department of Scottish Equitable plc.
